VT PSB to allow out-of-state input on biomass

POWNAL – The Vermont Public Service Board issued an order Wednesday granting a number of entities, including some in Massachusetts, participation in permit hearings on a proposed 29.5-megawatt biomass facility at the former Green Mountain Race Track.

Beaver Wood Energy, LLC, is in the process of petitioning for a certificate of public good from the PSB, which it needs to construct the plant and integrated wood pellet manufacturing facility.

To be part of the proceedings, most entities must file “motions to intervene.” The Berkshire Regional Planning Commission, Williams College and Williamstown, Mass., had all filed motions to be part of the proceedings, along with several groups and individuals based in Vermont.
